Privacy Policy

This application is a capstone thesis project for educational and research purposes. We are committed to being transparent about how it handles your data.

Last updated: March 2026

Educational Use Only. This tool is not a medical device and does not store, transmit, or share any uploaded images or personal health information beyond your current browser session.

1. Information We Collect

When you use the SKIN application, the only data processed is the image you upload for analysis. This image is:

  • Processed entirely in memory on the server — never written to disk
  • Discarded immediately after the prediction is returned to your browser
  • Never shared with third parties, stored in a database, or used for training

2. How We Use Your Data

Uploaded images are used solely to run the CNN classification model and return a prediction result displayed on your screen. No personally identifiable information is collected, stored, or linked to your uploads. Server access logs (standard web server logs) may record your IP address and the pages visited — this is standard infrastructure behavior and is not used for identification.

3. Cookies & Sessions

This application uses a minimal session cookie to maintain your current session state (e.g., passing prediction results back to the page). This cookie contains no personal data and is cleared when you close your browser. No analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels are used.

4. Data Security

All traffic is served over HTTPS. Images are processed in volatile memory and never persisted. As this is a thesis project hosted on Render's free tier, it is not intended for use with sensitive personal health data. Do not upload images containing identifiable personal information.

5. Medical Disclaimer

This application is for educational and research purposes only. It is not a certified medical device and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a licensed dermatologist for skin health concerns.

6. Contact

This project was developed as a capstone thesis under the College of Computer and Information Sciences (CCIS). For questions about data handling, contact the research team through your institution.
